Get to Know the Collage Staff – Jolie Larson
We want you to get to know the Collage staff a little better so every couple of months we want to share a blog post highlighting one of our staff or volunteers. During these Q&A blogs we’ll ask them about their role at Collage, their families and we’ll try to give you an inside scoop into their lives to discover their favorite TV shows, most embarrassing moments or other fun things you’ll find interesting.
To kick this off we want to introduce you to Jolie Larson our Client Advocate/Client Relations Coordinator/Help Where Needed Gal who has been working with the Collage staff for over 15 years.
What’s your favorite thing about working at Collage?
I love being able to talk with gals from all walks of life and backgrounds.
Would you tell us a bit about your education and professional background?
I have a degree in Social Work from Bowling Green State Univ. in Bowling Green, Ohio. After graduating I worked 5 years with Campus Crusade, now called Cru. Since then I have been a mom and work where needed on our farm.
It sounds like you stay pretty busy, do you have time for any hobbies outside of work?
I love to “romp” with the family on 4-wheelers and make memories with them while camping. Gardening, crocheting and making homemade cards with stamps are also things I love to do.
It sounds like spending time with family is important to you. Will you share a little about them?
Carl and I have been married for 20 years. We went to Hawaii this year to celebrate. We have 3 children: Nathan is almost 18, Megan is 15 and Becca is 13.
What is your favorite thing about living in Central Nebraska?
The beautiful sunsets and the kind hearts of those who live here!
Here’s where we start to get to know the real Jolie. What’s one of the scariest things you’ve ever done?
I went to China for a summer when I was 19 with a group of people that I did not know. I also had never flown before and I dislike fish. Putting yourself in situations that stretch you is a great adventure!!!
Do you have a favorite TV show or Movie?
Temple Grandin. It’s a true story about the life of Temple Grandin who lives with autism. She revolutionized the equipment used to handle cattle. Fascinating and a must see!!
Be honest, what song or band is your guilty pleasure?
Songs from the Broadway musical, The Music Man.
So we should be surprised if we see you singing along to Seventy Six Trombones when we pull up beside you at a stoplight. Good to know. What are some things that make you really happy?
When my hubby comes home from work and the kids walk through the door after school. Animals, children and music!
Do you have an accomplishment you are most proud of?
I am proud of being able to drive all the farm equipment and help out on the farm. I grew up in town and my dad was a band director so living on a farm raising cattle, crops and driving tractors was foreign to me.
Do you have a most embarrassing moment you would share with our readers?
I had just moved to NE from Ohio and during my 1st week on the job a male co-worker walked in on me while using the bathroom (there was no lock on the door!). There were 4 co-workers who realized what happened and were rolling with laughter downstairs.
That’s why we have locks on the bathroom doors at Collage. Speaking of being around other people, are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?
If you could hop on a plane today and fly anywhere in the world, where would you go?
If you could eat one food for the rest of your life without getting sick of it, what would it be?
What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Don’t inhale while eating powdered sugar!
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I slept through a typhoon while in East Asia.
Jolie, it’s great having you as part of the Collage staff. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions. If there’s something you want to ask Jolie, leave your question in the comments and we’ll do our best to get her back online to answer those. Stay tuned, we’ll be back with more Collage Staff Q&A in a few weeks.
