Get To Know The Collage Staff – Kelli Holl
Every so often we like to introduce you to one of our Collage staff members or volunteers to help you get to know them a little bit. During these Q&A blogs we’ll ask them about their role at Collage, their families and we’ll try to give you an inside scoop into their lives to discover their favorite movies, most embarrassing moments or other fun things you’ll find interesting.
This week we want to introduce you to Kelli Holl, one of our board members.
Kelli, thanks for taking a few minutes to talk and share a little that will help our blog readers get to know you a bit.
What is your favorite thing about volunteering at Collage?
Being part of an organization that helps people in a time of need.
We love helping people find beauty and value even in difficult times. Will you share a little about your education and professional background?
I graduated from UNK in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Finance with an emphasis in Real Estate. My husband, Ben, and I own the Best Western Plus and Just for Ladies fitness center in Kearney.
We’re sure owning the businesses keeps you pretty busy, but what do you like to do when you’re not working?
Scrapbooking, playing sports, making door dangles and going to Loper games.
Scrapbooking, that sounds like you might have some kiddos you’re taking photos of. Would you share a little about your family?
Ben and I have been married for 12 years. We have 4 kids. Elijah 7, Abigail 6, Silas 3, and Sarah 1. Our house is always loud and bubbling with activity.
Since you graduated from UNK and are raising a family here, you must enjoy the area. What is your favorite thing about living in Central Nebraska?
I love that our kids can spend time with both sets of grandparents on a regular basis. I also like wide open spaces, and friendly people.
Here’s where things start to get serious and we get to know the real Kelli. What ‘s one thing that you are just absolutely no good at doing?
Spelling (I love spell check!) I also have Ben close by when I am doing anything on a computer. Simple tasks can take me forever. Also keeping the inside of my car clean is not my best work.
You have four kids so we’ll give you a pass on the clean car. What’s one of the scariest things you’ve ever done?
Most recent scary moment would be last month losing Sarah in the Mall of America. It was less than 10 minutes, but that was long enough.
That is scary. We’re glad you found her quickly. What’s your favorite TV show or Movie?
What are some things that make you really happy?
Ben, the kids, and sitting outside on the deck after all the kids are in bed.
That sounds like the perfect way to end a day. Do you have a most embarrassing moment you would share with our readers?
I don’t think I’m ready to share yet. I am going to have to get to know our readers better.
You can’t blame us for trying. Maybe we can get some more questions in the comments and get you to let us in on the secret. For now we’ll move on. What was the last spontaneous thing you did?
When Ben was out of town I invited myself and the kids to supper at my mother in law’s house. She can make some delicious pancakes!
Mmmm. Pancakes. Now we’re all hungry. Good thing we’re almost finished here. What were the last 2 books you read?
Me Before You and The Light Between Oceans
Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I would probably describe myself as a shy extrovert.
If you could eat one food for the rest of your life without getting sick of it, what would it be?
I scream for Ice Cream!!
If you could hop on a plane today and fly anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Either the beach with Ben (we have never been) or to a sporting event, maybe the Olympics or a Grand Slam tennis tournament.
What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Be a grinder – Don’t give up.
Treat everyone with respect.
That is great advice. Do you have a favorite quote to share with us?
“Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all He’s done.” Philippians 4:6
One last question. What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I played tennis while attending UNK. I was also the volunteer assistant coach for about 4 years after we were married.
Kelli, thanks so much for spending some time with our readers and letting them get to know you a little bit. If Kelli shared something you liked we’d love for you to let her know and we may even be able to get her back if you have any other questions. With enough support, she may even share that embarrassing moment.
