Get to know Jessica
We’d like to introduce you to our newest team member at Collage! Let’s get to know Jessica, our Nurse in Grand Island.
Thank you, Jessica, for letting us get to know you a bit and for taking the time to answer some questions. Let’s start by sharing a little about how you became a nurse.
Well, I graduated from Central Community College and I’ve been an LPN for 7 years now. I’ve worked in many different forms of nursing from long-term care to clinic nursing.
Wow! That’s awesome! We’re so glad that you’re now sharing your abilities with us! Could you tell us what your favorite thing is about being part of the Collage team?
I consider myself to be a compassionate person and have a big heart. My favorite part is being able to help people facing unexpected circumstances.
That’s wonderful to hear! Now, you told us earlier about your professional skills. Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy anything that allows me to spend time with my family. We like going to the park and pool in the summertime. I love to cook, bake, repurpose furniture, and decorate.
Sounds like you’re fond of your family. Tell us more about them.
My husband and I’ve been married for almost 5 years. I have a 9-year-old son from a previous relationship, a 4-year-old son, a 2-year-old son, and now, I’m due to deliver our first baby girl any day!
Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! Having kids and being a parent is no easy feat. Many times, it can be downright scary! Can you recall one of the scariest things you’ve ever done?
I’m not much of a thrill-seeker. I’d have to say that the scariest thing I’ve done is when I stood on the glass walk-out observation deck at Willis Tower in Chicago.
That sounds like an unforgettable experience! It’s always fun to learn people’s favorite foods. What’s the one thing you could eat for the rest of your life without getting sick of it?
Most definitely ice cream!
I scream you scream, we all scream, for ice cream! Speaking of cold things. If you had to decide between a warm destination or a cold one, where’d you go?
Warm all the way! Somewhere with a nice beach, probably Mexico.
Vaya con Dios baby! On a more serious note, what’s one of your biggest accomplishments in life?
I’m super proud of the fact that I was a single mom, I had a job, and I put myself through nursing school all at the same time.
Talk about an extraordinary achievement! You’re without a doubt a strong woman. What’s the best advice someone gave you during that challenging time?
Do what makes you happy and not what makes other people happy.
That’s excellent! OK. One last question. Do you have a favorite quote you’d like to share with us?
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” -Gandhi
Thank you, Jessica, for letting us get to know you. We’re glad to have you as part of our Collage team. Now, let’s go get some ice cream! 😉
