Get to know…JOEY!
We’re so excited to welcome Joey Ruff to our Collage Team. She’s the new Director for our developing Center in Grand Island. This new Center is scheduled to open late this summer so Joey gets to come to Kearney for all her training. An added bonus is that Joey is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer so she’ll get to perform the ultrasound scans as well. She has three handsome sons who are 11, 9 and 7 and has been happily married for 16 years.
What do you like to cook?
I like to do more baking than cooking. Things like pies, breads, cookies – all the stuff that is not very good for you.
What is a story behind a scar?
I have many of them with good stories, but probably the scar on my forehead and chin that both involved a crowbar slipping off a nail twice in one day while helping my dad with some construction work. My nickname became “Crowbar Carla”! I looked a little out of place going to work as a hostess at a fancy restaurant that night with bandages all over my face.
Did you ever want to change your name growing up? To what?
Oh yes!!! I was not very fond of my name growing up. I think I may have even thrown out the threat of changing it when I was of legal age! It is not even short for anything. I’m not sure what I would have changed it to, something definitely more girly.
What do you like to do in the summer time?
Our family really enjoys camping. We find it a perfect way to get away from all the busyness of life and spend quality time as a family.
What do you like most about your job?
I love so many things about my job, but mostly being able to meet new people and develop relationships with them.
