Meet Anne Lano, Collage’s New Nurse Manager
We’re extremely excited to introduce you to Anne Lano, Collage’s new Nurse Manager in our Kearney office. We know as you get to know her you’re going to love her as much as we do.
Anne, what are you most looking forward to as you join the Collage team?
The people! I’m looking forward to the different people I get to meet here and of course, working with this great Collage team.
What attracted you to Collage and your role here?
I’ve always loved Collage and what they do, so after being talked to about the position, I couldn’t get it out of my head. The more I thought about it, the more pulled and excited I got. I feel like I’m supposed to be here for a reason.
Tell us a bit about your education and professional background.
I graduated UNMC in Kearney 2010 with my BSN-RN. I’ve worked about 2 and ½ years on the Medical Surgical floor at Good Samaritan hospital and recently transitioned to Recovery Room, where I still currently work, part-time.
Will you share a little about your family?
I’ve been married for about seven years to a pretty cute and incredible guy. We have two amazing girls, four years old and one and ½ years old. They are about 90% of the time the best, fun, heart bursting, my pride and joy, hilarious, cute little people I’ve ever gotten to spend time with and about 10% of the time hair pulling, confusing, drive me crazy, make me want to go hide in the bathroom and sit silently for hours…ha..ha..ha… #kidding #notreallykidding Can I hash tag on this thing?
But honestly, I am beyond blessed with this little fam bam of mine.
That sounds pretty busy, do you have any hobbies outside of family and work?
I think hobbies went a bit null and void with my two kids (toddler and preschooler) running around, I mostly run after them or lay on my wood floor while they run around me, but if I were more organized or had more time I would definitely hobby it up more! Run, play tennis, read, sew really cool artsy things (wanna be, I don’t sew), play my guitar, shop and go on lots of coffee dates. That all makes me sound active-y and extrovert-y but, I also really love to just sit, in absolute silence, in a peaceful way, not a weird creepy way.
What is your favorite thing about living in Central Nebraska?
The people! I sound so extroverted saying “people” over and over. I am actually a quiet introvert who likes meeting new and different people and getting some quality time with them. I may be biased, since I grew up here, but I feel like central Nebraska has some of the most genuine, sincere, fun people.
Do you have a favorite TV show or Movie?
Blacklist, Parenthood, 24, Finding Nemo, Les Miserable’s
Here’s where we start to get to know the real Anne. What is one thing that you are just absolutely no good at doing?
Anything mechanical. I usually grab a screwdriver cause it’s the one thing I know how to use and then just stand there and stare for a while until I decide to go do something else. It just doesn’t click in this head.
Do you have a most embarrassing moment you would share with our readers?
I think they are mostly from when I was a student in Nursing School, but I don’t think they are appropriate to share on this blog! One milder one that comes to mind, we had to do a foot clinic in nursing school and cut people’s toe nails. I had a very nice person with a pretty heavy foot toenail fungus. I was trying to act as calm and as nonchalant as I could, to not make the person uncomfortable but as I clipped one of the toenails, it shot out of the clippers and hit my eyelid. Precursor, I scream when I’m surprised, hurt or startled, it just comes out without warning – so yes, I screamed and then I felt so bad and embarrassed! I then, tried to act nonchalant again as I finished the toenails.
What were the last 2 books you read?
Sarah’s Key and currently reading Born to Run
If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life without getting sick of it, what would it be?
Suwannee Crispy Chicken!!
If you could hop on a plane today and fly anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Do you have a favorite quote to share with us?
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.
Is there anything else we need to know about you?
All in all I feel so blessed to do what I do and be a part of this team. To be honest I am often one struggling, broken person helping other struggling, broken people and am honored to be doing so.
