Seize the Opportunity – Annual Fundraising Banquets
At Collage we believe that we’ve been given a unique opportunity. It’s an opportunity to partner with our communities as we serve those who are facing the reality of a difficult decision about an unexpected pregnancy or the consequences of decisions already made.
We feel that our message of hope, even in these difficult circumstances, is one that must go out to those who need to hear it. They deserve to know that there’s beauty and value in everyone and that we want to help them see that beauty.
Our guest speaker this year is Tim Downs. In his most recent book, Where the Wind Leads, Tim shares a refugee family’s miraculous story of loss, rescue and redemption.
After the Vietnam War, this once wealthy family made a desperate choice to cast themselves out into the South China Sea on a rickety homemade raft, hoping for a better way of life than mere existence. The founder of World Vision, Bob Pierce, was asked to help in rescue efforts. But, Bob was quick to say that World Vision at that time was a fledgling, land-based organization and had no way of helping. Bob was then shown a picture of a distraught Vietnamese woman and her young son cowering under a tarp. It’s been said that he allowed his heart to be broken and he sensed a personal obligation to respond. They went out, bought a ship, and set sail in search of refugees. The very first family World Vision rescued was the family that Tim writes about in his book and will share about at our banquet.
And really, that’s the reason we’re inviting people to our banquet… to Seize the Opportunity we’ve been given. We want you to hear of the impact Collage is making in both the Grand Island and Kearney communities. We want you to see the stories of some of our clients who were faced with difficult circumstances and came to us for help. We want you to recognize the difference our donors are making in the lives of men, women and children. We want you, much like Bob Pierce, to allow your heart to be broken and to see how you can personally be involved in the work of Collage.
Will you join us? Will you help those who are lost in treacherous waters and needing help? Will you partner with Collage and continue to allow us to be a place of hope and restoration, a place where we continue to create beauty from the unexpected?
Our banquets will be held on April 7 in Grand Island and April 21 in Kearney.
Both events are reserved seating only. If you would like to make a reservation for the Grand Island banquet please call 308.675.2217 by April 1. For the Kearney banquet, please call 308.236.9248 by April 15.
Collage is a non-profit organization that relies on the generous support of our donors to be able to provide all of our services at no charge to those who need out help. We can’t do it alone. It’s your belief in what we do and your financial partnership that make it all possible. Thank you!
