When Christmas Doesn’t Feel Very Merry

CollageCenter • Dec 23, 2017

The twinkling lights, the big red bows, all the songs about decking the halls and feeling jolly and peace on earth and joy to the world. For some, this is the happiest season of all.

But for others, the holidays are really difficult. Maybe this year hasn’t panned out the way you thought it would. Maybe this Christmas season isn’t at all the picture-perfect dream you had for yourself. Sometimes grief or difficult surprises or loneliness or depression make the holidays especially tough. It’s hard to feel like the whole world is celebrating when you’re struggling.

We want you to know that you’re not alone.

You’re not the only one struggling to find joy this holiday season. Your circumstances might be unique to you, but you aren’t the only one who feels sad or lost or lonely or confused.

We want you to know that it’s OK that your holiday season – that your life – isn’t perfect. Nobody’s life is perfect. Nobody’s life is like the ones inside those Christmas movies. And, as you know, a lot can change in one year. Things won’t be like this forever. Beauty can eventually come from the unexpected things in your life.

During this season, we hope you can find some moments of peace. As you sip hot cocoa or snuggle under a warm blanket, we hope you find a little comfort. As you see the twinkling lights on the trees, we wish for you to find some glimmers of hope. Peace, comfort, and hope — that is our Christmas wish for you this season.

If we can help you in any way, please call our office.

Merry Christmas, friends.
